Prerequisite: Our LEVEL 1/CCL course. You must have been a prior student of ours to attend this course.

You will be expected to have a basic knowledge of how to use a handgun. You will also be expected to know how to safely draw from a holster, and how to conduct reloads with and without retention.

This course is designed to pick up where we leave off from in our LEVEL 1/CCL. This course will focus on the concepts of fighting with a pistol. You will learn how to move and shoot, execute various reloads during a course of fire, engage multiple targets at varying distances, fire one handed, fire with you non-dominant hand, shoot from non-conventional shooting positions, shoot from cover and more. We want to give our students the foundational concepts of what it means to fight in the real world with a handgun. Students must provide their own equipment during this course. Inside the waist band holsters are encouraged but outside the waistband is fine too. Appendix carry position is preferred but not required. Spare mag carriers are encouraged but pockets are also fine.

What Do I bring?

(we've provided a few links for items we like for our courses)

  • A good quality handgun, suitable for self-protection and/or concealed carry.  Remember that you will be firing approximately 300 rounds during this class, so ultra-lightweight firearms, though suitable for concealed carry, are not a good choice for class use.  If you have any questions about the suitability of your gun, please contact us.  It is a good idea to bring a spare gun, if you have one, just in case your primary gun breaks. ( it happens more than you think)

  • A good quality holster. You need a safe, quality holster and belt. No Serpa style holsters. NO "soft" holsters. Again, if you have any questions, please contact us. (we like these ones)

  • A minimum of 3 magazines for your handgun, with a capacity of 10 or more.

  • A magazine pouch/holder your spare magazines. (concealment style encouraged)

  • A sturdy belt, to support the above. A high quality sturdy belt suitable for concealed carry is a MUST.

  • Hearing protection, electronic preferred.

  • Eye protection. (both clear and dark recommended)

  • Baseball style cap or other brimmed headwear (not red)

  • At least 300 rounds of decent quality, reliable ammunition. Range ammunition (FMJ, etc.) is fine.  You do not need to use premium self-defense ammo for this course. Must be factory new, NO reloads/remans.

  • Clothing suitable for the weather and the range. If necessary, we will finish our range work in whatever conditions exist at class time, live-fire classes run rain or shine, mud may be involved.

  • Raingear plus a light jacket, windbreaker, sweater or sweatshirt is highly encouraged.

  • Note-taking materials. Audio or video recording of the class is not allowed.

  • Firearm cleaning supplies plus any tools/lubricants that you might need.

Please note that the above list is just the essentials for our courses. You may bring additional items (such as a range bag, extra magazines, folding chairs and coolers, etc.) if you choose.

MORE INFO:

Our range location is on private land, we currently do not have access to portable toilets, or running water. For your comfort, you might want to bring wipes, disposable washcloths and/or hand sanitizer. Our facilities do not have restaurants close enough to purchase meals and get back in a reasonable amount of time. We do schedule a break in the middle of class for use of near by facilities/washrooms. Also remember that each day of class is 8 hours long, if you need another meal in that amount of time please bring it.  Bring water, while we do provide water at all of our classes, it never hurts to bring some more. We highly suggest a small cooler with water, Gatorade, ice, etc. We provide bench style seating at our range location but cannot guarantee the comfort of these chairs, if that might be an issue for you feel free to bring a cushion to sit on (We like this one). If you have any questions please contact us.
